We do not want to and cannot reinvent the history of the automobile.
Therefore, also at the outset: This is not one of the three official, worldwide existing vehicles of this legendary type. Two of them are in the Alfa Romeo Museum, one in the former Schlumpf Museum in Mulhouse. But at the same time we assure: our specimen presented here is closer to these three original cars than any other specimen known to us.

If you read up on technical books and delve a bit into the post-war period of the 1950s in the last century, you inevitably come closer to the common practice and reality of that time. Especially if you internalize the creativity and imagination of the Italian car manufacturers and get to know their common practice of that time – we remind you at this point of the versatile Giotto Bizzarrini – you know at this point at the latest what even a factory like Alfa Romeo was capable of at that time, if you paid with hard currency. One can argue about anything with intimate knowledge from that time, but there is probably agreement on one thing even among all connoisseurs and insiders: nothing was impossible, and a lot of exceptions confirm a holey rule that can be followed. With emphasis on “can”….

This Disco Volante is not a factory-built car, but was built in October 1954 with correct trellis frame, correct drivetrain (engine, gearbox, rear axle), brakes, chassis, and finally correct aluminum body by Coriasco in the correct dimensions, weight and specifications at the request and on behalf of a Milanese Alfa customer with all the main original parts of the Disco Volante, after this type of Alfa Romeo itself got stuck in the prototype stage and the project was officially “dead”.

The car has recently been given a fresh cell treatment to the tune of around €60,000 to revive it – after being found quite neglected and incomplete in the UK. His complete history from 1954 onwards is available to us, which means that his individual stages can be documented. Its 1900 SS engine, prepared by Conrero, has been completely overhauled – as has the brake system and all major parts of the chassis.

The car has German road and H-approval. In addition, we expect shortly the adelung by the FIA/FIVA organization, which will virtually open all doors for this Alfa Romeo to participate in the most important events such as Mille Miglia, Le Mans Classic or Goodwood.

Stay tuned, dear readers. We will continue to report and keep you informed.
