The special position which the Carrera 3.o occupies in the development history of Porsche has already been illuminated in detail from many sides. Currently our friends of Elferspot are dedicated to the Carrera 3.0. The, as we find, very successful purchase advice around this model can be found here: https://www.elferspot.com/de/magazin/kaufberatung-der-porsche-911-carrera-3-0/
A short excerpt from this article in terms of quantities: “The Carrera 3.o was offered between the years 1975 and 1977 on the market. It was built in a sandwich next to the standard 911 and the 911/930 Turbo. During this very short, two-year lifespan, only 3,687 cars were built, an almost tiny number compared to the 58,000 pieces of the Porsche 911SC and 76,500 pieces of Carrera 3.2. Of these 3687 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 2.564 copies were delivered as a coupe and even only 1,123 pieces as Targa. In model year 1976, 1,093 coupes were built, including 606 copies with the steering wheel on the left side. The following year there were 896 coupes with the steering wheel left. The comparison in terms of rarity, the Carrera 3.o needs both the 2.7 RS (1,580 pieces) and the 911 Ur-Turbo (1975-1977) (2,819 pieces) so definitely not to shy. “
In addition: In 2018, 277 Carrera 3.o were registered on German roads. The probability of encountering a second “sandwich” model on the road is accordingly manageable.
Now to the known history of the offered car. It starts almost 15 years ago. Here with us. Somehow. The current owner of the car came to us, was looking for just this special model. Unfortunately, we had no offer, but made him aware of the grandprix-white 911, which was then offered by a dealer colleague in central Germany. The listing in the MotorKlassik from 2005 described the car as a 911 Carrera from 1976, according to the display, it was a first-hand vehicle in its original condition. For 22,000 euros. In 2005. Yes, those were still times. The prospective customer drove north on our recommendation, looked at the Porsche, got to know him or loved him and – bought. The first German possession and the move of the car into the Swabian were sealed.
With the move to Swabia – with 93.300 km read – in the past years diligent research, (only and exclusively) sunny driving days and numerous investments went hand in hand. The maintenance and supply history is listed below:
04.2005 93.364km full report, brake fluid change // Schärtl Racing (freelance Porsche specialist)
03.2006 95.480km annual maintenance, valve clearance adjustment, fuel pump renewed // Porsche Zentrum Göppingen
07.2007 97.439km Blower wheel and master cylinder renewed // Karl Hloch (freelance Porsche specialist)
01.2008 97.802km annual maintenance // Porsche Center Göppingen
03.2010 98.991km annual maintenance and brake fluid change // Porsche Zentrum Göppingen
03.2013 100,073km annual maintenance and brake fluid change // Porsche Center Schwäbisch Gmünd

07.2013 100.569km Beck belts rear-equipped // Porsche Center Schwäbisch Gmünd
12.2016 101,513km annual maintenance and brake fluid change // Porsche Center Schwäbisch Gmünd
07.2018 101.613km Engine revision // Porsche Center Reutlingen

04.2019 102.045km Ignition system and seat belts // Karl Hloch (freelance Porsche specialist)
Over 20,000 euros have been invested in the Carrera 3.o since 2005 – taking into account the employee rebate, if a Porsche Center has created a hand. The owner of the car is close to the home Porsche 🙂 The Carrera lettering were attached, the original trunk lid exchanged for the wing variant.
Meanwhile, it is also clear: The Carrera 3.0 was first delivered in Italy, logbook and checkbook from his Italian time are unfortunately not available. According to the Italian letter, the 911 had a previous owner, born in 1901. It has been transmitted orally that this gentleman – who was already old at the time of purchase – died and that the community of heirs handled the sale of the car to Germany in 2003. We do not know any more. The care pass of the Elfer starts in 2005, since then all technical work has been properly stamped and noted. The respective invoices are available. Only in 2018, the type designation was also corrected. The Carrera 3.o’s ran quite frequently as 3.0 SC – based on the chassis number, this correction was made in the fall of 2018 in letter and bill. At the same time the first registration was corrected from 1976 to 1977, the breakdown of the VIN allowed this logically. Finally, an important info about the car: It is a matching numbers vehicle.
Today, the car is in a good overall condition, ready for the next 40 years on the road – as an underdog, between the Carrera 2.7 RS and the 930 Turbo.
