One almost tends to stroke the “little one” when reading the title of the ad. It says Porsche 911 2.2T Coupé, and above it you see an engine that doesn’t seem to match the 125 hp of this entry-level Porsche 911 at the beginning of the 70s. There are 6 intake manifolds as thick as a forearm, the connoisseur counts the ignition cables and discovers far more than the 6 necessary….what is going on at DLS? Are they suddenly practicing modesty? Up to now, the reader has been used to hearing things called by their names. So why this basically misleading title, when the vehicle shown obviously has more, or perhaps even much more, to offer than just this – by Porsche standards – “comfortable” engine?

Grotesque, isn’t it?

Imagine that we have to agree with our lawyer on what to call this offered vehicle. The manufacturer and we have different opinions about this, which need to be clarified. Until then, we strictly adhere to what is written in the vehicle registration and bill – Porsche 911 with original 2.2 liter displacement as a coupe with original 125 hp, 5-speed 901 transmission in blood orange.

The rebuild of this car leans on the type 2.3 S/T, which at that time could be bought in small series from the factory, or in parts for the savvy mechanic. Ours goes a step further. The 901 transmission would not stand up to the power of the drivetrain in the long run, so in our case the much more robust, and incidentally much easier to shift, 915 transmission was used to stand up to the twin-ignition 3.4 liter powerplant with a registered 225kW (307hp).

The body was completely machined out in sheet metal, after being stripped of paint in an immersion bath, to finally be dip coated after the bodyshell was completed.

The Bilstein suspension with appropriate torsion bar selection, stronger stabilizers and significantly more powerful braking system reliably captures what this thoroughbred sports powerplant is capable of translating into vehement propulsion.

The quality of all restoration and improvement work is at the very highest level and thus far above the standard that these vehicles had to offer ex factory. This starts with the cathodic dip coating, which will probably allow this gem to shine rust-free even in 50 years. Who remembers, will agree with us – often the sports cars from this house and this time were already after 5-8 years strongly tarnished and had to be supplied already at that time extensively with new sheet metal at fist-large Durchrostungen.

We recommend you to carefully look through our picture gallery, from which you will already recognize much of what we mean by highest restoration level. In the meantime, we continue to consult with our lawyer as to what we can reveal of all that is already in the ad that makes this sports car what it is: a 1000 kg proof of what these sports cars are capable of even after 50 years.

It’s not a Singer, no. But it’s damn close. Only in price it remains respectfully modest, costing about a third of what you’d have to fork over for a Singer at the very least.

That makes this sports car a bargain. We ask serious interested parties to visit and talk to us, during which we would like to convince you of 2 things: You will hardly find a better restored Ur-Elfer. You will also hardly find a Ur-Elfer with better performance, and finally – if we have convinced you of this, you will also agree with us on the last point.

This sports car is a special offer.
